My Experience
Firstly, it’s important to understand the eligibility requirements for AdSense. According to the AdSense policies, your website must have original content and comply with Google’s webmaster quality guidelines.
Additionally, your site must have a sufficient amount of content, and it must be easy to navigate.
If you’re using a blogging platform like WordPress or Blogger, you should make sure that your site is set up correctly and that you’re following the platform’s guidelines for AdSense approval.
Once you’ve ensured that your site meets the eligibility requirements, you can apply for AdSense. The application process is straightforward, but it can take some time for your application to be reviewed.
If your application is approved, you can start displaying ads on your site and earning money.
The whole process for me took about a month or so, to get approved for Google Adsense.
To set up your Google Adsense account you have to verify your address and wait for this in the mail. This delays your ability to get paid but you can have ads running on your website before you go through this approval process.
Google Adsense was the first ad network I was with (I am now with Mediavine Journey) and I liked how simple it was to set up and how easy it was to get approved.
I also made decent money with Google Adsense as a new blogger and the RPMs were really high.
However, this will really depend on a variety of things so it is not guaranteed that you will also have these RPMs.
In the next section, I will share some tips on how to increase your chances of getting approved for AdSense.
Understanding Google AdSense
What Is Google AdSense?
Google AdSense is an advertising program that allows website owners to display ads on their site and earn money when visitors click on those ads. It is one of the most popular ad networks available to bloggers and website owners.
How Does AdSense Work?
AdSense works by connecting website owners with advertisers. Advertisers create ads and bid to have them displayed on websites that are relevant to their target audience.
AdSense uses a complex algorithm to determine which ads to display on a particular website, based on factors such as the website’s content, the visitor’s location, and the advertiser’s bid.
When a visitor clicks on an ad displayed on a website, the website owner earns a portion of the revenue generated by that click. The amount earned per click varies depending on the advertiser’s bid and the type of ad being displayed.
Benefits of AdSense for Bloggers
AdSense offers several benefits to bloggers who want to monetize their website.
First, AdSense is easy to set up and use. All you need to do is sign up for an account, copy and paste a code snippet onto your website, and start earning money.
Second, AdSense offers a variety of ad formats and customization options, so you can choose the type of ads that work best for your website and audience.
Finally, AdSense is a reliable source of income for bloggers. As long as you have traffic coming to your website, you can earn money from AdSense.
Preparing Your Blog for AdSense
As a blogger, getting AdSense approval can be a great way to monetize your blog. However, before applying for AdSense, you need to make sure that your blog meets certain requirements. In this section, I will discuss the steps you need to take to prepare your blog for AdSense approval.
Creating Valuable Content
One of the most important things you need to do before applying for AdSense is to create valuable content.
Your blog should offer unique and high-quality content that is relevant to your niche. Make sure that your blog posts are well-written, informative, and engaging.
Avoid copying content from other websites, as this can lead to your blog being rejected by AdSense.
Designing a User-Friendly Blog Layout
Having a user-friendly blog layout is essential for AdSense approval.
Your blog should have a clean and professional design that is easy to navigate. Make sure that your blog is mobile-friendly and that it loads quickly.
You can use a variety of tools and plugins to optimize your blog’s design and speed.
Ensuring Your Blog Meets AdSense Requirements
Before applying for AdSense, you need to make sure that your blog meets all of the AdSense requirements.
For example, your blog should have a privacy policy and a disclaimer page. You should also avoid using copyrighted images or content on your blog.
Additionally, your blog should have a sufficient amount of traffic and visitors. AdSense requires that your blog receives a minimum of 1000 visitors per month.
Applying for Google AdSense
As a blogger, one of the easiest ways to monetize your website is by using Google AdSense. However, before you can start earning from your content, you need to apply and get approved for the program. In this section, I will guide you through the process of applying for Google AdSense.
The Sign-Up Process
To sign up for Google AdSense, you need to go to the Google AdSense website and click on the “Sign Up Now” button.
You will then be prompted to enter your website URL and email address. Once you have submitted your application, Google will review your website to determine whether it meets their eligibility requirements.
What to Include in Your Application
When filling out your AdSense application, make sure to include all the necessary information.
This includes your website URL, the primary language of your site, and your contact information. You should also ensure that your website complies with the AdSense policies and restrictions.
For example, your website should not contain any prohibited content such as adult content, copyrighted material, or violent content.
Understanding the Review Process
After submitting your application, Google will review your website to ensure that it meets their eligibility requirements.
This process can take up to several days, so be patient.
During the review process, Google will check your website’s content, design, and traffic sources. They will also verify that you have not violated any of their policies.
If your application is approved, you will receive an email from Google with instructions on how to set up your AdSense account.
If your application is rejected, don’t worry. Google will provide you with a reason for the rejection, and you can make the necessary changes to your website and reapply.
Optimizing Your Blog for AdSense Approval
As I mentioned earlier, having valuable content is key to getting AdSense approval. But there are a few other things you can do to optimize your blog for AdSense approval.
Key Content Categories
It’s important to have a variety of content categories on your blog. This shows that your blog is well-rounded and covers a range of topics.
Some popular categories include technology, lifestyle, travel, and food. Make sure to choose categories that are relevant to your niche and that you can write about consistently.
Creating a Privacy Policy Page
A privacy policy page is a must-have for any website or blog. It tells your visitors what information you collect, how you use it, and how you keep it safe.
AdSense requires that you have a privacy policy page before they will approve your application. You can easily create a privacy policy page using free online tools like FreePrivacyPolicy.com.
Developing an About Us Page
An About Us page is a great way to introduce yourself and your blog to your visitors. It helps build trust and credibility with your audience.
AdSense also requires that you have an About Us page before they will approve your application. Make sure to include information about yourself, your blog, and why you started it.
Maintaining AdSense Compliance
Avoiding Prohibited Content
As an AdSense account holder, I am responsible for ensuring that my website complies with Google’s policies.
Google prohibits certain types of content, including pornography, violent content, and hate speech. I must ensure that my website does not contain any of these prohibited types of content.
In addition, Google also prohibits certain types of activities, such as clicking on my own ads or encouraging others to click on my ads.
I must ensure that I do not engage in any of these prohibited activities, as it could result in the termination of my AdSense account.
Regularly Updating Your Blog
To maintain AdSense compliance, I must ensure that my website is regularly updated with fresh, high-quality content.
This not only helps to ensure that my website complies with Google’s policies, but it also helps to attract and retain users.
Regularly updating my blog also helps to ensure that I have a steady inventory of ad space available for advertisers.
This can help to increase my earnings potential, as advertisers are more likely to bid on ad space that is regularly updated and has a steady flow of traffic.
