Becoming a blogger was never something I imagined I could do.
This blog sort of organically happened and I am so grateful for it.
I started this blog on March 29th, 2024. Before I had just a regular website under the same domain that I registered on February 5th, 2024.
I just want to clarify that this is not an aged domain by any means which is important to note.
I want to share my First Month Blogging Income Report for transparency purposes and also as a starting point for what I hope to grow in the future.
How I Started
Despite having a strong following of over 60,000 on TikTok, the world of blogging was uncharted territory for me. The transition from creating bite-sized, engaging content for TikTok to crafting detailed, long-form blog posts was both thrilling and daunting.
This meant that I had to navigate the complexities of SEO and content strategy from the ground up. But, I was determined to make this work and to take the essence of what made my TikTok content resonate and weave that into the fabric of my blog.
Speaking of SEO, I have been taking courses and learning everything I can to maximize my SEO and hopefully increase my Google traffic.
SEO is all about keywords and I started focusing my blog on keyword strategy at the beginning of this month. In the graph above, you can see the spike I had in Google traffic ever since I started going after low competition high search keywords.
The absolute best tool to use to find these keywords is Rank IQ. I could go on and on about how amazing this tool is and I will probably write another blog post on this tool just to explain everything.
But you can see from that graph, that my Google traffic has spiked this month since using Rank IQ. I can’t say enough good things!
As I share my First Month Blogging Income Report, it’s not just about the figures. It’s a lesson about leveraging a social media following and translating that into a different medium.
It’s about the growth, the learning curve, and the potential that lies ahead. Transparency is key to me, and as I peel back the curtain on this initial phase, I invite you to join me on this exciting journey, from the first blog post to the many more that will follow.
Before I get into my total for the month, I think it’s important to talk about monetization. Since my blog is so new, I am not able to sign up with one of the top ad agencies for display ads.
So you sort of have to start at the bottom and work your way up which I was prepared for.
Types of Monetization for a Blog
There are so many ways to monetize your blog. My focus is display ads for now because I am just so new to it all.
The beauty of blogging is that it offers a plethora of avenues to generate income, each with its own set of strategies and benefits.
Display Ads: One of the most straightforward methods to monetize your blog is through display advertising. Platforms like Google AdSense or Mediavine allow you to easily integrate ads into your blog. You earn money each time a visitor clicks on an ad or, in some cases, simply views it. The key is to balance ad placement with user experience, ensuring that your content remains the star of the show.
Digital Products: Selling digital products is an excellent way to create a stream of passive income. These can range from ebooks and online courses to printables and photography. The advantage of digital products is that you create them once and sell them indefinitely, with no inventory to manage or shipping to handle.
Affiliate Marketing: By incorporating affiliate links into your blog, you can earn a commission for recommending products or services. The trick is to recommend products that you genuinely believe in and that align with your niche, thus maintaining trust with your readers.
Sponsored Content: Partnering with brands to create sponsored posts is another lucrative option. This involves creating content that subtly promotes a brand or product. It’s essential to maintain transparency with your audience by disclosing sponsored content.
Services: If you have expertise in a particular area, offering services such as consulting, coaching, or freelance writing can be a powerful way to monetize your blog. Your blog serves as a platform to showcase your knowledge and attract potential clients.
Memberships or Subscriptions: For bloggers who consistently produce high-quality content, offering exclusive content through memberships or subscriptions can be rewarding. This could include gated content, members-only forums, or exclusive resources.
Online Workshops or Webinars: Hosting online workshops or webinars is an effective way to monetize your expertise. You can charge for live sessions or sell recordings for those who want to learn at their own pace.
There are so many ways but for now my focus is definitely just on display ads and the occasional affiliate link.
Google Adsense
While doing research for how to make money off of my blog I saw many people overlook Google Adsense and say it was not worth it because the RPMs were so low.
I was told they are normally between $5-$7 per 1000 views and I thought hey even if I make an extra $100 then at least I’ve paid off what I spent to start this blog.
I am not sure if it is because of the niche I am in or what exactly, but my RPMs have been ridiculously high for the entire month of April.
I will insert screenshots so you can see that it was consistently between $24-$44 for the whole month.
This was so unexpected and I am so grateful for the continually high RPMs.
Since I already had a follow on TikTok which has grown to over 75,000 since March 29th, I knew I could easily generate around 20,000-30,000 page views just based on what I did in February and March on my regular website before it was a blog.
I doubled that amount of page views this month.
I hit 62,834 page views in 30 days.
Now for blog monetization through higher-end display ads, they are going to focus on a metric called “sessions”. My sessions for this month were around 33,000 which I am super proud of.
What I made
In my first month of blogging, my first blogging income report I made $1668.36 with display ads through Google Adsense.
This is way higher than I could have ever imagined and I am shocked I hit this number.
My Goals for Next Month
My goal for next month is to hit $2000 if I can continue the same amount of views and my posting schedule.
I post on TikTok 3 times a day.
I make at least 1 blog post every day.
My goal is also to utilize Pinterest more and post 2-3 times a day.
Overall, I am so happy with everything and I hope I can continue this!
